Nimzoa's free online Discount Calculator helps you calculate sale prices, percentage discounts, total savings, and original prices before a discount. Whether you're shopping online, comparing promotional offers, or planning a sale, you can work out how much you save without calculating everything manually. Choose from three calculation modes: Price After Discount, Find Original Price, or Find Discount %. Enter your prices and discount details to see the results instantly. You can also calculate two consecutive discounts to understand the actual savings when multiple percentage reductions are applied. The calculator supports percentage-based and fixed-amount discount options, along with different currency display formats. Currency selection changes how amounts appear but does not convert prices using exchange rates. Calculations run directly in your browser, with no account or installation required.
Save time when comparing sale prices, checking promotional discounts, or calculating savings on everyday purchases. Nimzoa's Discount Calculator helps you find the final price after a discount, calculate the original price from a sale price, and determine the discount percentage between two prices. You can also compare consecutive discounts, including offers such as 20% off followed by an additional 10% off, without incorrectly adding the percentages together. The calculator supports multiple currency display formats, updates results without complicated formulas, and works for personal shopping, budget planning, and business promotions.
Nimzoa's Discount Calculator processes your calculations directly in your browser. The prices, discount percentages, and other values you enter are not uploaded to Nimzoa's servers for calculation or stored as calculator records. No account or personal information is required to use the calculator. Currency selection only changes how amounts are displayed and does not perform currency conversions or exchange rate lookups.
Multiply the original price by the discount percentage divided by 100. Subtract that amount from the original price to find the sale price. For example, 20% off $100 saves $20, making the final price $80.
Divide the original price by four to find the savings, then subtract that amount. For example, 25% off $200 saves $50, so the sale price is $150.
Subtract the sale price from the original price, divide the difference by the original price, then multiply by 100. For example, a price reduced from $80 to $60 has a 25% discount.
Divide the discounted price by (1 − discount percentage ÷ 100). For example, if an item costs $75 after a 25% discount, its original price was $100.
Apply the first percentage discount to the original price, then apply the second discount to the reduced price. For example, 20% off followed by another 10% off on $100 gives a final price of $72, an effective discount of 28%, not 30%.
No. Changing the currency only changes how amounts are displayed. The calculator does not use live exchange rates or convert values between currencies. Enter your prices in the currency you want to calculate.
A discount reduces the original price of a product or service. Whether you're checking a clearance sale, comparing online shopping deals, or applying a promotional percentage, knowing the final price helps you understand what you'll actually pay.
Nimzoa's Discount Calculator can work as a percentage discount calculator, percent off calculator, and sale price calculator. It supports three calculation modes: finding the discounted price, recovering the original price, and calculating the percentage saved.
You can also apply an additional percentage discount to an already reduced price.
To calculate a discount manually, start with the original price and the percentage being offered.
Discount amount = Original price × (Discount percentage ÷ 100)
Final sale price = Original price − Discount amount
For example, imagine a jacket costs $120, and the store offers 25% off.
Original price: $120
Discount percentage: 25%
Amount saved: $120 × 0.25 = $30
Final sale price: $120 − $30 = $90
You save $30 and pay $90 before any applicable taxes, shipping, or additional charges.
A shorter way to calculate the final price is:
Sale price = Original price × (1 − Discount percentage ÷ 100)
Both methods produce the same result.
A percent-off calculator answers a common shopping question: how much will an item cost after a particular percentage reduction?
Multiply the original price by 0.10 to find the savings.
For a $150 product:
Savings: $15
Sale price: $135
Multiply the original price by 0.20.
For a $250 product:
Savings: $50
Sale price: $200
A 25% discount is one-quarter of the original price.
For an $80 product:
Savings: $20
Sale price: $60
Multiply the original price by 0.30.
For a $90 product:
Savings: $27
Sale price: $63
A 50% discount cuts the original price in half.
For a $200 product:
Savings: $100
Sale price: $100
These examples help explain common sale percentages, but you can enter other values into the calculator above.
The following table shows how different percentage discounts affect the final price.
Original Price | Discount | Amount Saved | Sale Price |
|---|---|---|---|
$50 | 10% | $5 | $45 |
$100 | 15% | $15 | $85 |
$120 | 20% | $24 | $96 |
$200 | 25% | $50 | $150 |
$300 | 30% | $90 | $210 |
$500 | 40% | $200 | $300 |
$1,000 | 50% | $500 | $500 |
The calculations assume one percentage discount and do not include taxes, delivery charges or other fees.
Sometimes a store shows the original price and the sale price without clearly stating the percentage reduction.
You can find the discount percentage using this formula:
Discount percentage = ((Original price − Sale price) ÷ Original price) × 100
For example, suppose a pair of shoes was originally $160 and is now selling for $120.
Subtract the sale price from the original price: $160 − $120 = $40.
Divide the savings by the original price: $40 ÷ $160 = 0.25.
Multiply by 100: 0.25 × 100 = 25%.
The shoes have a 25% discount.
This formula is useful when checking advertised savings or comparing price reductions. The original price must be greater than zero.
Use the calculator's Find Discount % mode to perform this calculation directly.
A reverse discount calculation works backward from the discounted price.
If you know the sale price and the percentage reduction, you can calculate what the item cost before the discount.
Original price = Sale price ÷ (1 − Discount percentage ÷ 100)
For example, suppose a product sells for $72 after a 20% discount.
Original price = $72 ÷ 0.80 = $90
The original price was $90, and the savings were $18.
This method works when the discount is less than 100%, and the sale price has not been altered by additional charges or separate promotions.
Choose Find Original Price in the calculator to work backward from the sale price.
A double discount happens when two percentage reductions are applied one after another.
For example, a store might advertise 20% off an item, followed by an additional 10% off the sale price.
The percentages are not simply added together because the second discount applies to the already reduced amount.
Suppose the original price is $100.
First discount: 20% of $100 = $20.
Price after the first discount: $80.
Additional discount: 10% of $80 = $8.
Final sale price: $72.
Total savings: $28.
Effective discount: 28%.
Although the advertised percentages add up to 30%, the actual combined reduction is 28%.
Final price = Original price × (1 − First discount ÷ 100) × (1 − Second discount ÷ 100)
You can also calculate the effective discount percentage:
Effective discount = 100 × [1 − (1 − First discount ÷ 100) × (1 − Second discount ÷ 100)]
First Discount | Second Discount | Effective Discount |
|---|---|---|
10% | 10% | 19% |
20% | 10% | 28% |
25% | 10% | 32.5% |
30% | 20% | 44% |
50% | 20% | 60% |
Use the additional discount field in Price After Discount mode to calculate two consecutive percentage reductions.
A larger advertised discount does not always mean a lower final price.
For example:
Store A: A $120 item with 25% off costs $90.
Store B: A $100 item with 15% off costs $85.
Store A advertises a larger percentage reduction, but Store B has the lower final price.
When comparing offers, consider the original price, final price, shipping costs, applicable taxes and any conditions attached to the promotion.
For businesses, a lower sale price should also be evaluated against product costs and profit margins.
A 20% discount followed by another 10% discount is a 28% effective reduction, not 30%.
For a normal percentage-off promotion, the discount is calculated from the price to which the promotion applies. A second discount may use the already reduced price.
A 20% discount is different from a $20 discount. A percentage reduction changes with the price, while a fixed-amount reduction does not.
Nimzoa's Discount Calculator is designed for percentage-based calculations.
The calculated sale price does not necessarily equal the final checkout total. Sales tax, VAT, delivery fees, and store-specific conditions may change the amount payable.
Choosing a different currency symbol does not convert an amount using exchange rates. Enter values in the currency you intend to calculate.
Check sale prices before buying clothing, electronics, furniture, or everyday products.
Calculate the amount saved during promotional periods and compare different percentage reductions.
Work out the combined effect of two successive percentage discounts.
Estimate sale prices for percentage-based promotional offers. Use a separate profit margin calculation when you need to evaluate profitability.
Compare discounted prices against your available budget before making a purchase.
Use the Discount Calculator above to find sale prices, percentage savings, original prices, and the effect of two discounts.
