Gross profit is net sales revenue minus COGS. Operating profit subtracts salaries, rent, marketing, utilities, shipping, administration and custom operating expenses. Profit before tax adds other income and subtracts interest; net profit subtracts tax.
Refunds and discounts each reduce sales revenue once. Other income is added after operating profit and is never included in net sales revenue or percentage expense bases.
COGS, operating, custom and interest percentages use net sales revenue. Percentage tax uses only positive profit before tax and is zero for a loss. Fixed entries are the amounts entered for the selected period.
The estimate uses fixed costs, fixed taxes and other income with the entered variable-cost percentages of net sales revenue. It shows N/A when variable expenses leave no contribution to cover remaining fixed costs.
No. The period selector changes only labels. Enter amounts for the selected period; current and proposed scenarios use the same period and display currency.
A margin with zero net sales revenue and a scenario percentage change with zero current net profit are undefined and shown as N/A. Losses are displayed as negative values.
